Who is responsible

Jonathan Mayling, a sole trader trading as Maywell Studio, is the data controller for this website and its enquiries. Maywell Studio is not VAT registered.

The correspondence address is 4 Coton Hall Farm Barns, Coton Lane, Tamworth, B79 7SU.

For privacy requests, complaints or questions, email hello@maywell.studio.

What information is used

The enquiry form asks for your name, email address and message. Project type is optional. If you continue a conversation or become a client, Maywell Studio also uses the information needed to discuss and deliver the project, keep in touch, invoice and maintain tax records.

Netlify processes technical request and security information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include an IP address, browser or device information, the time of a request and the page requested.

The site uses only the time shown by your browser to select daylight styling. It does not request, send or store location data for this feature.

Why information is used

Maywell Studio uses information to deliver and secure the site, receive and reply to genuine enquiries, discuss possible work, deliver agreed projects and meet accounting and tax duties.

The lawful bases are legitimate interests for enquiries and for operating and securing the website; contract for client work; and legal obligation for tax records.

Services that handle information

Netlify hosts the website and processes form submissions. Its Trust Center includes its published sub-processor list.

Client records are kept in Gmail, Zoho Mail and Google Drive. Invoices and tax records are kept in Google Docs within Google Drive. Zoho Mail handles email under a data processing agreement that includes safeguards for international transfers. Enquiries are forwarded to a Google Gmail account so Jon can read and reply to them. Google provides Gmail, Docs and Drive and explains how it handles information in its privacy policy.

These providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, Maywell Studio relies on the approved safeguards that the relevant provider says apply to its service, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long information is kept

Netlify submission copies are deleted monthly. Enquiry emails in Zoho Mail and Gmail are kept for 12 months after the last substantive contact and then deleted.

Other client records are kept for six years after the project ends. Tax records are kept for at least five years after the relevant 31 January filing deadline.

Unlisted preview pages are link-only, carry noindex controls and are removed after 30 days. They are not confidential or access-controlled.

Your rights and complaints

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, object to its use, or receive a portable copy. Email hello@maywell.studio to make a request.

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. See the ICO complaint guidance.

Maywell Studio works worldwide and is UK-led. UK GDPR and PECR are the standard used for this website. Other privacy laws may also apply depending on where you are.
